Woman acquitted:

News in Brief

-

The Misdemeanor Court acquitted a Kuwaiti woman of swindling a compatriot of KD19,000 – value of the license for a restaurant and coffee shop.

According to the plaintiff, the Ministry of Commerce rejected the application to transfer the license under his name but the accused refused to return the amount — KD19,000 — that he gave to her for this purpose.

The plaintiff said the woman and another person swindled him as they claimed she owns the license. They allegedly conspired to use the license and rent contract of the restaurant to take the abovementioned amount from him.

However, the lawyer of the woman raised doubts on the investigation and urged the court to acquit his client due to the absence of incriminating evidence.
