ASSP Kuwait conducts annual general body meeting
Event highlights association’s activities during 2018-19
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3: American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), Kuwait Chapter is a premier voluntary, non-profit making Health, Safety and Environmental organization, which strives to provide professional guidance, training, consultancy and resources to the industrial and social sectors in the region.
ASSP Kuwait Chapter conducted Annual General Body Meeting for the year 2018-19 recently at Hotel Safir Fintas, Kuwait. More than 150 members of the Chapter attended the meeting.
Eng Fadel Al Ali, Chairman of the ASSP Kuwait Chapter in his opening speech extolled the activities performed by the office bearers of 2018-19 under the leadership of the President Aamir Rasheed and wished successful term for the new team (2019-2020).
Aamir Rasheed, President ASSP KC, in his presidential address highlighted the achievements by the chapter to conduct ASSP GCC HSE Excellence award, 17 training programs, 12 technical events, 5 outreach events and 5 student programs. He mentioned that all the chapter programs were focused towards chapter objectives like professional development of the members, chapter growth and protecting people, property and environment in the region. He stated that chapter was able to implement all its planned activities successfully only with the unconditional voluntary support of the ASSP Executive committee members. He conveyed his appreciation to the chapter elected members, executive committee, advisory committee, advisory board, chairman, sponsors, ASSP US president, Global region Vice-President, Global Region Area 1 Director and the chapter members for the efforts, support and encouragement for all the activities during the year. Aamir Rasheed also conveyed gratitude to CEOs and HSE leaders of various state owned and private sector organizations and Governmental agencies of the State of Kuwait. Jahid Thakor, Chapter Secretary, appreciated the efforts of the Committees. He stated that during this chapter term many new initiatives were taken and gave the brief summary of the activities conducted during the year in brief by highlighting the major activities, achievements and awards received during the term. Chapter treasurer Safdar Ali Khan presented the financial report for the chapter with the revenue and expenditure for the year 2018-19.

ASSP Kuwait Chapter formed a toastmasters club during the year 2018-2019 and elected Vasudevan as president of ASSP Kuwait Toastmasters Club. Vasudevan briefed about the Toastmasters and the success of ASSP Kuwait Toastmasters. Dinesh Kumar Pal, a member of ASSP Kuwait Toastmasters Club shared his success story.
The Heads of the chapter committees Ehab said Elsayed (Professional & Career Development Committee), Adnan Yousaf (HSE Events Committee), Dr Shaikha Al Fajjam (WISE Committee), Narendra Patel (Publication Committee), Balvant Singh Kathayat (Outreach Committee), Tariq Maqbool (Membership Retention), Hani Alkhatib (StudentCommittee), and the deputies of Training Committee, Membership Development Committee and Web Development Committee presented in brief on their respective committees annual activities. Hani Alkhatib selected as a best volunteer for the year 2018-2019.
A technical presentation on “Environment Regulations in Kuwait” presented to commemorate World Environment Day 2019 by Dr Fahad Al Ajmi who is working as Head of Jahra Inspection Section, KEPA. As a token of appreciation, Fadhel Al Ali, Chairman of ASSP-KC handed over a memento to Dr Fahad Al Ajmi.
As a token of gratitude & for the efforts during the year, the chapter Chairman Fadhel Al-Ali presented the elected core committee members, committee heads, subcommittee members and Advisory Committee members with mementos and letter of appreciation. A special farewell bid recognition to Mohammad Riaz Shareef given for his voluntary services towards the chapter activities.
President Aamir Rasheed welcomed the President elect Sunil Sadanand to the dias and handed over the president’s medal as a token of leadership transfer.
Sunil Sadanand, introduced the elected members for the new term 2019-20, along with the nominated head of committees and advisory committee members.
A bumper draw held at the end of the session where two winners Asgar Hussain and Hamid Imam received their bumper prizes, a smart LED TV and a smartphone respectively.
In the closing ceremony, Sunil Sadanand thanked all the members for their participation and wished the new team a successful year ahead.
