Cabinet meets, congratulates HH the Amir on advent of Eid
Ministry of Finance tasked to pay for rain damage
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 5, (KUNA): The Cabinet held the regular weekly session on Monday at Seif Palace under chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak AlHamad Al-Sabah.
Following the session, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah stated that the government session kicked off with the ministers addressing congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah, the people of Kuwait and the residents of the dear homeland on forthcoming advent of Eid Al-Adha.
The session proceeded with an address by Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt-Gen Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah about the recent visit to the country by the Iraqi Interior Minister Yassin Al-Yaseri.
The ministers examined the discussions that had been held with the Iraqi official that addressed coordination between the Kuwaiti and Iraqi security apparatuses on observing land and maritime borders, combating terrorism and organized crime.
Moreover, they examined a recommendation from the committee of economic affairs for compensating those who suffered losses due to the “rain crisis and floods”.
Kuwait witnessed heavy rains in the past winter, swamping streets, houses and properties and causing extensive damage.
Allotments for the compensations are to be deducted from the budget of the Ministry of Finance (2019-2020 fiscal year), said the deputy premier in his statement following the session.
The Cabinet decided to task the Ministry of Finance to disburse the allocations for those who deserve the compensation.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet on Monday delved into political happenings around the world, chief among them a constitutional declaration initialed by Sudan’s military council and opposition coalition, paving the way for a transitional government.
The Kuwaiti executives congratulated Mauritania’s new leader Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani on his ascension to the presidency, while wishing Malaysia’s new king Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah well after the crown was passed to him for a five-year term.
On a more solemn note, the Cabinet deplored in equal measure a convoy attack in Afghanistan and a series of bomb blasts across Thailand’s capital city of Bangkok, both of which claimed numerous innocent lives.
The Cabinet went on to extend its deepest condolences to the leadership and people of Pakistan in the wake of a deadly military plane crash in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, expressing similar sympathies to the Egyptian people after a midnight explosion outside a hospital in the capital Cairo.
The Cabinet also condemned a missile attack launched by Yemen’s Houthi militias on a military parade and a police station in the city of Aden, urging the international community to put an end to such “terrorist and inhumane” actions.
They strongly condemned a pair of shooting rampages in the US states of Texas and Ohio, which collectively killed scores of people and left more than a dozen others wounded.
