-

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 5: Canadian Ambassador to Kuwait Louis Pierre Emond stressed his keenness to increase the number of Kuwaiti students wishing to study in Canada, where they number between 400 and 450 annually, pointing out that Canadian universities are reputable with wide areas of science and knowledge, reports AlAnba daily.

He declared, “We have been here in Kuwait for many years and are proud of this strong relationship between our two countries in many fields – from politics to trade, investment and, of course, education. We are very committed to finding new ways to bring Kuwaitis and Canadians closer together in all these areas, including research, education and investigations. For this reason, our role at the embassy is to bring together individuals from Canada and Kuwait who are interested in specific topics or issues for research. We work to create opportunities for them to meet, discuss and exchange ideas with the hope that they will start to launch new areas of work, research and study.”

The Canadian ambassador said that “one of the important forms on which we are working is to take Kuwaiti students to Canada for study. I was lucky enough to meet with some of them last week who will go for the first time in the fall, and it is nice to see the excitement of those young people when they start to study at the university and go to Canada. We will be proud to see them go to Canada and we want to see the figures increasing year after year.”
