Audit criticizes slow repair of roads

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 6: The State Audit Bureau (SAB) has criticized the slow pace of implementi­ng the Ministry of Public Works’ plan to put asphalt on roads and repair damages caused by heavy rains last winter, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.

Oil expert Dr Abdulsamie Bahbahani has affirmed that there is no winner and loser in the contract between Kuwait and Iraq to determine oil in the divided area, asserting both countries will emerge victorious in the developmen­t of the joint oilfields, reports Annahar daily.

He said there are many oil fields in 12 from its finance counterpar­t regarding the cost of changing orders for 28 contracts including 18 contracts of the ministry at a total cost of KD 24.7 million and eight contracts of the Public Authority for Roads and Transporta­tion (PART) at a total cost of KD 6 million.

Sources pointed out that the bureau granted initial approval for the Ministry of Public Works to proceed with these contracts on March 20, adding that in reality the number of contracts is less than 10.
