KUWAIT CITY, Aug 7: The detention renewal judge has released an underage expatriate, Shehab, who goes by the name “Instagram Salt” on social media. The suspect was released on KD 500 bail bond.

He was held in the Juvenile Welfare Home on charges of blasphemy and abuse of smart phone based on a petition submitted against him by Lawyer Bashar Al-Nassar. He was previously detained for 10 days after investigation of the alleged blasphemy against him. He was accused of recording some female artistes in a hospital in a manner in which the petitioner considered blasphemous.

The Criminal Court postponed the case of the Romanian to Aug 18, 2019, to provide an interpreter for the accused, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Romanian is charged with attempting to insert a chip in the ATM machine which could help him copy data of customers and then rob money from their accounts.

The incident dates back to mid-May, when a bank told the Interior Ministry that the security cameras had spotted the suspect while attempting to insert a device in the ATM machine to copy data of bank cards.

The accused was referred to the Public Prosecution on charges of forgery, theft and damage to the ATM machine.

The Family Court of Appeals obliged a citizen to pay monthly alimony of KD1,500 in addition to KD1500 for hiring two domestic labors with monthly salary of KD160, in addition to KD500 for bringing in a driver with monthly salary of KD50. The court again ordered the ex-husband to pay KD5000 (the cost of a car).

Attorney Fatima Al-Shatti representing the plaintiff argued that the man neglected his responsibility to the family due to a dispute with her client (ex-wife). She confirmed that the children are in the custody of the ex-wife, and requested the court to oblige the defendant to pay alimony and other expenses for up-keeping of the children.

The court based its decision on the fact that the children are in the custody of their mother who is capable of raising them, while they are immature to earn income for survival.
