Insane disparity of fish prices

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 8: In the midst of insane disparity of fish prices in Kuwait during the past period, there is a pressing question why the price crisis surfaced given the quantities of fish harvested and the amounts of sale, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The annual bulletin of fisheries statistics issued by the Central Bureau of Statistics, a copy of which has been obtained by the daily, revealed that the total sale of local and imported fish during the past three years was 42 million kilos, with an estimated sale value of 106 million dinars.

The bulletin confirmed that the number of fishing licenses and equipment granted to fishermen was 1,149 and that the number of workers was 602, based on the statistics of the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fisheries Resources (PAAAFR).
