Kuwait’s customs installs at border ‘monitoring devices’

Enhanced protection

-

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 8, (KUNA): Director General of Kuwait General Administration of Customs (KGAC) Jamal Al-Jalawi said Thursday radioactive monitoring devices, to be installed at border crossings, would help prevent entry of banned materials into the country.

These devices enhance protection of the country from radioactive and nuclear materials, as well as early detection of any radioactive threat, Al-Jalawi said in a statement coinciding with commencement of execution of the project.

He said this project is part of KGAC’s 2019-20 strategy, and the devices would be installed in ports of Shuwaikh, Doha and Shuaibi, as well as border crossings in Nuwaiseeb and Salmi.

This project is implemented in coordination between KGAC, Ministry of Health’s radioactive prevention department, Ministry of Interior’s land border crossings, and Kuwait Ports Authority.
