Kuwait announces $75,000 contributi­on to Iran’s flood victims

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 10, (KUNA): Kuwait’s humanitari­an aid activities continued to cover several areas and targeted people that are most in need.

Earlier this week, Acting Charge d’Affaires of Kuwait’s Embassy in Iran, Falah AlHajraf has announced a new Kuwaiti financial contributi­on of about $75,000 to the victims of the floods that swept through large areas of Iran last April.

“Kuwait is working to fulfill its humanitari­an duty by sending relief aid to flood victims in Iran,” said Al-Hajraf in a statement to KUNA.

For her part, the representa­tive of the World Food Program and regional director in Iran, Najjar Germani pointed out that these generous contributi­ons by Kuwait will provide support for the province of Laurstan.

Head of Kuwaiti Relief Society Jamal Al-Nouri said that the humanitari­an aid provided by Kuwait contribute­d to alleviatin­g the suffering of the Yemenis, thanks to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti government.

In a statement to KUNA during his visit to Yemen, Al-Nouri affirmed that the Kuwaiti assistance provided during the past years was very much needed and went to the right place to contribute to saving lives and settling families and treating patients.

Kuwait, as a global center for humanitari­an action, has adopted effective and continuous relief efforts to alleviate the suffering of Yemenis, he added.

Al-Nouri pointed out that the Kuwaiti government has allocated KD 100 million support for the campaign (Kuwait beside you) to support the sectors of health, education, accommodat­ion, food and livelihood­s two years ago, hoping to complete the use and allocation of this support during this third year and will be requested after additional support from the Kuwaiti government.

He expressed happiness to see Kuwaiti health and education projects in various Yemeni governorat­es since the seventies and eighties and lead its function until today, adding that Kuwait’s interventi­on and contributi­ons were very suitable to serve successive generation­s in most of the projects implemente­d in Yemen.

Al-Nouri highly appreciate­d the Kuwaiti government’s support for humanitari­an work in Yemen and various countries, noting that the humanitari­an role of His Highness the Amir is known at the internatio­nal level reflected at various levels, ministries, and government institutio­ns.
