The Criminal Court acquitted a citizen, in his 20s, of assaulting 10 youths, says Al-Seyassah.
The plaintiffs said they were in Khairan when the defendant glared at them and made signs with his hand. They added that the defendant assaulted one of their friends using a knife and then hit all of them.
Attorney Ina’am Haidar, the defendant’s lawyer, asserted that the accusation is malicious, especially since there is no evidence supporting the plaintiffs’ claim. She argued her client acted in self defense while pointing out the contradictions between the anecdotal evidence and technical evidence. She also raised doubt on the results of investigations as they do not match the technical evidence.
