Nepalese ministers commend ‘strong relations’ with Kuwait
Humanitarian role wins praise
NEW DELHI, Aug 17, (KUNA): Nepalese officials hailed strong relations with the State of Kuwait since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two friendly nations in 1972, appreciating the prominent role Kuwait is playing in the humanitarian field.
Kuwaiti Ambassador to Nepal Jassem Al-Najem, in a statement to KUNA after meeting Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradip Kumar Gyawali in Kathmandu, said that Nepal appreciates the role of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in establishing peace and security at both regional and global levels.
He also hailed the massive assistance that Kuwait provided to the Himalayan nation since the establishment of relations between the two friendly countries, either through Kuwait Fund for Economic Development or through the Kuwait Red Crescent Society.
He mentioned in particular an estimated USD three million worth of emergency humanitarian aid for the victims of a devastating earthquake that rattled Nepal in 2015. The foreign minister further affirmed keenness of Nepalese leadership to strengthen and enhance relations with Kuwait in various fields.
On his part, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Matrika Prasad Yadav said during his interaction with the ambassador that Nepal has great investment opportunities with high returns, expressing hope that Kuwaiti investors will benefit from them.
Nepal exports many goods such as clothes, fabrics, tea and carpets to the Kuwaiti market while importing some petroleum products, especially polyethylene, the minister said, hoping to boost trade exchange between the two countries.
Nepal’s economy is relying heavily on tourism since millions are visiting annually, Yadav said, underlining the number of Kuwaiti tourists to Nepal has increased in recent years and a massive campaign to promote tourism in the year 2020 is on.
On his part, the Ambassador recalled Nepal’s position during the Iraqi aggression against Kuwait in 1990 where Nepal was the first country in South Asia to denounce and oppose this brutal aggression and strongly supported Kuwait’s just position.
Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh headed his country’s delegation partaking in the signing ceremony of Sudan’s transitional phase on Saturday.
Kuwait’s Ambassador in Khartoum Bassam Al-Qabandi told KUNA that Minister Al-Saleh will be leading the Kuwaiti delegation upon an official invitation in the ceremony bringing together Sudan’s Military Council (MT) and the Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) along with many officials from around the world.
The schedule to begin assigning the civil structure authorities will be next Saturday for the final signing of the agreement between the MT and FFC, which will be followed by naming of the sovereign council consisting of 11 members.
Based on the agreement between the MT and FFC, the announcement of the new ministerial council will be on Aug 28.
Ministry of Finance disclosed that it provided a sub-website to publish the executive regulations of budget for fiscal year 2019/2020. The site is intended for facilitating the activities of finance teams at different official bodies by providing legal references for financial researchers on relevant decrees, decisions and circulars.
