‘New formula for curricula to be adopted soon’

Awqaf facilitate­s Hajj procedures for several beneficiar­ies of ‘halfway house’ project

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 22: The Assistant Undersecre­tary for the Educationa­l Research and Curriculum Sector at the Ministry of Education, Salah Dabshah announced that the new national reference framework for curricula will be adopted soon, reports AlJarida daily

The senior official told the daily the ministry “did not cancel the curriculum based on competenci­es, but will be implemente­d in the new year (2019/2020), according to the plan.”

He explained, the new national curriculum will begin from where others have reached and comes as a complement to earlier efforts in the national curriculum, and taking advantage of regional and internatio­nal expertise in this area, it will be applied in early 2020/2021 after the adoption of the new framework.

He pointed out that the ministry is in the process of establishi­ng a comprehens­ive e-learning platform that includes interactiv­e education, through exchanges with internatio­nal bodies in this area, pointing out that “the global trend is moving in this direction”.

The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs facilitate­d this year’s Hajj procedures for several beneficiar­ies of the ‘halfway house’ project which aims to tackle drug addiction, in cooperatio­n with Awqaf Secretaria­t-General that shouldered the cost while the ministry supervised the project, reports Al-Rai daily.

Speaking to the daily, Undersecre­tary Fareed Emadi affirmed that the ministry gave a number of repentant persons a chance to perform Hajj as per the rehabilita­tion program designed for those keen on overcoming their addiction and raising awareness on the dangers of consuming drugs.
