Foreign minister meets his Polish counterpart
‘Schengen visa issue to be discussed with Polish FM’
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 25, (Agencies): Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah Sunday met visiting Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Jacek Czaputowicz and his accompanying delegation.
Both ministers tackled close relations between both friendly countries and ways and means of promoting them in various fields, in addition to the latest regional and international developments.
They also addressed joint cooperation and effective coordination in the context of both sides’ nonpermanent membership of the UN Security Council (UNSC) for 2019.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Khaled Al-Jarallah, Assistant Foreign Minister for the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister’s Office Ambassador Sheikh Dr Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, Assistant Foreign Minister for the Deputy Foreign Minister’s Office Ambassador Ayham Al-Omar, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Poland Khaled Al-Fadhli, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for Europe Counselor Mohammad Hayaty and several other senior officials of the Foreign Ministry.
Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah said the issue of exemption of Kuwait from the Schengen visas will be discussed with the Polish foreign minister as Poland is a member of the European Union and the Schengen area, report Al-Jarida daily.
Al-Jarallah told the daily there are different areas that bring the two countries together, adding that Kuwait appreciates this visit, which reflects the importance attached by the friendly Republic of Poland to consultations between the two countries.
The two countries have already held two rounds of political consultations at the level of the deputy foreign ministers, he added.
He went on to say the issues discussed at the UN Security Council level will be discussed during the visit, especially that there is great coordination between Kuwait and Poland on these issues.
He disclosed the political files will also be discussed, especially since Poland plays an important role at the political level on the issues of the region, especially the issue Palestinian Authority.
