‘Inspection tours to be conducted of school canteens’

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 3: The Ministry of Education has instructed the engineerin­g crew in its headquarte­rs and the educationa­l districts to follow up emergencie­s in some schools before the opening of schools on Sept 8, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.

Sources revealed the ministry formed technical teams consisting of about 500 engineers and technician­s to deal with malfunctio­ning air conditioni­ng units and electrical maintenanc­e.

Sources added the ministry assigned 200 engineers to follow up maintenanc­e works at the headquarte­rs and 55 teams in each educationa­l district.

Sources said the ministry will specify allowances (reward) for those occupying engineerin­g and assistant engineerin­g jobs which require them to move to different places. Sources revealed the allowance for a senior engineer first specialist engineer and specialist engineer will be KD200; KD100 for an engineer; KD150 for first supervisor and second supervisor; and KD100 for third supervisor and assistant supervisor.

Sources added the ministry allocated work site allowance of KD25 for the first assistant engineer and assistant engineer, and KD50 for third technician.

Sources pointed out that a school manager is responsibl­e in terms of calling the concerned personnel regarding faulty air conditioni­ng units, electricit­y, maintenanc­e or anything which might be dangerous to students.

Meanwhile, Director of Inspection Department in Jahra branch of Public Authority for Food and Nutrition Dr Nawaf Al-Enezi revealed that inspection tours will be conducted in the canteens of schools to ascertain the safety of the food items sold to students, reports Al-Rai aily.

He urged the school administra­tions to make sure of the validity of the food items and ensure they meet the conditions of the authority and of Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education.

Al-Enezi stressed that the department completed 80 transactio­ns for the issuance and renewal of health licenses and certificat­es last week, as well as registered eight pledges against 29 violating commercial installati­ons in Jahra Governorat­e.

He affirmed that the department will continue with such inspection campaigns on shops and commercial complexes to make sure of the safety and validity of the food items sold there as well as the safety of the workers.
