MoCI adopts series of regulatory decisions
Bid to protect consumer from undue increases
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) has announced the adoption of a series of regulatory decisions recently, which succeeded in controlling the prices of meat during the summer, despite the many challenges faced by the country, especially following Australia’s decision not to export sheep to Kuwait for three months during the summer, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The ministry said in a statement that it has managed with high professionalism the ‘crisis’ which developed during the vital stoppage period, which included Eid al-Adha and the significant increase in the consumption of meat locally.
The ministry stressed that it is coordinating with various concerned parties permanently to protect the consumer from undue increases in the prices of all consumer goods, especially the vital goods.
The sources stressed, the ministry constantly monitors the market to ensure there is no unjustified increase in the prices of meat and other consumer goods and that it will intensify its campaigns on various outlets to ensure the stability of prices.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Commerce and Industry has approved the board of directors of Al-Durra Company for Domestics Workers having Mohammed Al-Kashti as the chairman, Assi Al-Hajri as deputy chairman, and with the membership of Hamad Al-Barjas, Mohammed Al-Zu’bi, Ahmad Ghazanfari, Meshal Al-Sayyar and Faisal Al-Mutairi, reports Al-Jarida daily.
In a statement, which the daily received a copy, Al-Kashti revealed that the ministry approved the appointment of Al-Kashti as board chairman after report of the Legislative and Fatwa Directorate confirmed he’s legitimate for the post following his acquittal from the accusations against him, adding the misdemeanor charges slapped on Al-Kashti are not considered to be crimes against a person’s honor and do not prevent him from taking the post of board chairman and representative of the Union of Cooperative Societies.
For his part, Al-Kashti asked MP Riyad Al-Adsani to apologize for the false accusations labeled on him.
