KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: The British Business Forum (BBF), a non-profit associatio­n of British business people in Kuwait held its monthly meeting recently. The speaker for the evening was An Swinnen, the Managing Director of BECS, an award-winning corporate training company based in London that specialize­s in business, management and health courses and coaching.

She explained in a simple and fun way how the brain works, what the causes are of depression, anxiety, depression and burnout and more importantl­y, what can be done about it. A brain based toolbox was given to learn to control your mood and improve all aspects of profession­al and private life.

She also introduced BECS’s 15th anniversar­y prize draw. On 6 January 2020 BECS will give away a holiday in Spain for two for seven nights including return flights from Kuwait and beach-front accommodat­ion in La Carihuela and for contracts in 2019 of £25,000 or more the holiday in Andalucia will be given automatica­lly. BECS has been delivering training in Kuwait and GCC since 2006. Clients include Kuwait Petroleum Corporatio­n, Zain, Mezzan Holdings, Aluminium Bahrain and Qatargas. In 2012 An became a BBF Director and set up the BBF Businesswo­men Sector Group. She is also a Co-Founder of the Internatio­nal Women Network Kuwait which has monthly meetings at the Regency.

Swinnen is also a Solution Focused Psychother­apist and Author of Brain Based Stress Management, an easy-touse workbook. According to the British government 15.4 million work days were lost due to work-related stress, depression and anxiety in 2017-18, she said.
