Mother of 12th grade student fights for girl’s future

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: Mother of a secondary school student is fighting to save the future of her daughter because after she got involved in a lengthy argument with the school administra­tion where her daughter studies, the latter has been barred from entering the classroom or appearing for the exam, reports Al-Rai daily.

This happened when the school administra­tion apparently tore her school uniform to lengthen it to cover her knees.

The mother of the student told the daily, she was shocked to see her daughter’s uniform torn, which she says the school administra­tion may accept, but she certainly does not accept

Drunkard hits jeep:

Farwaniya Security Men arrested an Asian expatriate who was under the influence of alcohol after hitting a Jeep and 12 others in Kheitan area. No human injuries were reported.

A security source said the operations room of the Ministry of Interior received informatio­n about the incident, which happened in block 10, Kheitan area. Security men went to the scene and arrested the suspect when they discovered he was under the influence of alcohol. He was referred to the area police station.

Motorist arrested:

Jahra Security men arrested a motorist for constituti­ng nuisance to the people of Oyoun area.

A security source said the officers chased the motorist and caught up with him despite his attempt to run away after the operations room of the Ministry of Interior was notified what happened to her daughter.

She says, the school should have notified her on the matter. She also said the dress is normal and there is nothing wrong with it. “I do not think there is a law that forces students to wear the hijab or the long uniform. Since last Thursday my daughter is prevented from entering the school,” she added.

The mother has appealed to the Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Hamid Al-Azmi, his Undersecre­tary, Dr Saud Al-Harbi and Undersecre­tary for Public Education, Osama Al-Sultan, to intervene immediatel­y to stop what she calls absurdity and improper personal behavior

Student violence up:

The Juvenile Prosecutio­n has released 2 Kuwaitis (one 13-year-old) on 200 dinars bail each after 12 hours of detention for assaulting a fellow student and taking the statements of both students, reports Al-Anba daily.

However, the daily quoting the Prosecutio­n sources said the assaulted student was released without bail after listening to his side of the story.

The fight apparently occurred outside the school compound on a street immediatel­y after school hours.

The assailant during the investigat­ions said since the beginning of the school year, his school with her daughter. She also says something will be done urgently to help her move her daughter to another school to protect her future.

For her part, the Director of Educationa­l Affairs in the Capital Educationa­l Area, Shukriya Al-Saidi told Al-Rai that “the school’s behavior (if the mother’s story is true) is totally rejected and her mother must file a complaint in the education directorat­e to apply the necessary punishment on the school.”

The school should have notified the guardian if the dress was short and request the student to dress properly in front of teacher and visitors to the school.

In yet another incident quarrel between students in the Saad AlAbdullah City resulted in the injury to three people.

Following a wave of similar incidents, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has been trying to find solutions to uncontroll­ed student behavior.
