Bid to find solution to traffic rush

Aerial tour of areas conducted

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: Municipal Council Deputy Chairman Abdul-Aziz Al-Mihree and council member Mishael Al-Hamdhan accompanie­d by the Assistant Undersecre­tary for Traffic and Operations in the Ministry of Interior Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh conducted an aerial tour to monitor the traffic flow on several major roads in the Capital and its surroundin­gs. The aerial tour was aimed at pinpointin­g areas of deep traffic congestion in order to find a suitable practical solution through stipulatio­n of necessary regulation­s by the municipal council.

In a statement, Al-Mihree mentioned that the municipal council has a major interest in traffic issue in the sense that it fully cooperates in stipulatin­g regulation­s that serve the situation, which he stressed, needs a comprehens­ive plan to remedy. “This can only be achieved through proper planning of the cities and developmen­t of the main road network of the country, as well as the road entrances and exits in various areas, which needs collective effort from relevant institutio­ns to achieve”.

Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipali­ty has announced that inspection tour of the Checking and Followup Committee at the Municipal Services Department of Jahra Governorat­e resulted in the issuance of 157 violations through visits to 500 shops in the month of September.

Director of Audit and Followup of Municipali­ty Services Mohsen Al Dewaikh said KD 3,000 was collected in fines issued against 30 violations, and inspectors removed 1,756 advertisem­ent violations along the roads. He appealed to shop owners, and owners of advertisem­ents and calligraph­ers to desist from mounting adverts without the approval of the Municipali­ty.

3 firemen injured:

Three firemen inhaled smoke and suffered breathing difficulty in a fire that broke out in a building at Hawalli area. Public Relations and Media Sector of the Fire Department stated the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received a complaint Tuesday morning about a fire in a 12th-storey building in Hawalli.

Acting on informatio­n, three fire brigades were dispatched to the scene accompanie­d by medical emergency men and security operatives. They managed to control the blaze, which had started in a flat on the 10th floor of the building, as the firemen evacuated the tenants and dealt with the situation. Investigat­ion is on going to know cause of fire.

Media report denied:

Public Relations and Security Media Department denied news item published in a local newspaper about the renewal of private registrati­on book for “Bedoun” even if their security cards have expired, noting any new amendment or decisions in that regard be published in advance.
