Life Sciences College has specializa­tions needed by the Kuwait labor market: official

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: The Acting Dean of the College of Life Sciences in Kuwait University Dr Ahmad Al-Lafi affirmed that the labor market of Kuwait needs many specializa­tions that the college provides, reports Aljarida daily.

In an interview with the daily, he explained that the most notable of the specializa­tions required by the labor market is the food and nutrition specializa­tion, which helps in remedying problems caused by obesity in Kuwait The labor market also needs specializa­tions in environmen­t, communicat­ion and informatio­n, which have great importance in the society.

Dr Al-Lafi said the College of Life Sciences is striving towards solving problems facing the operation of transferri­ng to Al-Shadadiya campus with some communicat­ion companies, affirming that the lecture halls in the college are equipped with the latest technology, and there are no problems with the Wi-Fi.

He added that the number of students registered in the college is 1,200 and there is no phenomenon of having closed academic sections because the number of students in the college is considered to be small compared to other colleges in Kuwait University.

Meanwhile, the Chemistry Department in the College of Science at Kuwait University has formed a committee to organize an event for commemorat­ing 150th anniversar­y of the “periodic table” on Monday, November 18 and Tuesday, November 19 in Khaldiya Campus.

According to a press release, the organizing committee consists of Prof. Ali Bumajdad, Dr Amal Al-Azmi, Dr

Mohammad Bin Sabt, Dr Abrar AlRashid and Dr Layla Jeragh.

Kuwait Foundation for the Advancemen­t of Sciences (KFAS) has agreed to sponsor the event, and Kuwait Chemical Society has agreed to play an active role in the event. The students of the department and the Chemical Club have also assured active participat­ion.

The event will include a series of lectures and online competitio­ns via the website – http://iytp-ku. com/compete.

It also includes on-the-spot competitio­ns during the event, and the results of the online competitio­n will be announced during the event.
