Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh ‘cleaning’ operation to begin Nov 15th

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: The joint committee which has been formed to follow up the existing situation in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh region, headed by the director of the Municipality, Ahmed Al-Manfouhi, has set on Nov 15 to begin work of cleaning the area completely,
reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reliable sources, Al-Manfouhi met yesterday with the senior officials in the Ministry of Interior, to develop a tight plan to control the area, with an emphasis on the relevant government agencies the need to adhere to the deadline, especially as the Municipality has begun moves in cooperation with the Interior Ministry forces to monitor houses, real estate and warehouses, in explicit assertions of the need to eliminate all manifestations of corruption in the region.
The sources announced the committee will be monitoring the area from the air – the movements of violators, the location of illegal food stores, and gathering places of fugitive laborers and violators of residence law.
The sources said there will be an operations room including personnel from all concerned government institutions which will direct the field teams and prepare what the committee called ‘on the spot’ reports and issue warning letters to real estate owners and investors who shelter the offending laborers.
In a related context, Deputy Director of Manpower Protection Sector in the Public Authority for Manpower Mubarak Al-Azmi said that the sector will play its role in regard to labor violations and violations committed by commercial shops.

An exhibition was held recently to display monuments from Failaka Island. The event, which included several photos of the monuments found in Failaka Island dating back 3,000 years, took place in the lobby of the Kuwait University’s Faculty of Medicine in Jabriya campus in the presence of Director of Archeology and Museums at the National Council for Culture Arts and Letters Dr Sultan Metleq
Al-Duwaish, Supervisor of Cultural and Technical Activities at the Deanship of Student Affairs Fahd Al-Mutairi, Administrative Director of the Faculty of Dentistry Jawad Al-Ghareeb, the Administrative Director of the Faculty of Medicine Adel Al-Failakawi, and Head of Technical Affairs at the Cultural and Technical Activities Department Khuloud Al-Yaqoub.
