The parliamentary elections which are expected to be held in mid2020 will be the fiercest, waste of money and we will see a deviation from the customs and traditions, laws, and rules and regulations in the history of Kuwait’s Parliament, and the government will often be unable to address them because of the huge amount of money involved on the one hand, and its unwillingness to interfere in the affairs of the so-called service MPs, especially since in the coming period the government is expected to witnessed a flurry of grilling requests filed against its ministers and the pressures which it will not be able to handle alone.

The deputies and people who toy with the magic wand of sectarianism and tribalism are aware of the government’s weakness, or the Achilles heel, and therefore will exploit the issue to the maximum. Unfortunately the deputies in whom we put our trust (we are responsible for their success by taking part in the primaries) such as MP Badr Al-Mulla, did not hesitate to ride the wave of populist interrogations, which is a cheap method by unwarranted questioning of the Minister of Public Works, perhaps for fear of having the same fate of the former MP Hamad al-Matar, who like him succeeded in the primaries, but then in the last general election failed to win the seat.

What is the guilt or responsibility of the current minister for the destruction of the ministry over the past forty or fifty years, although she (the minister) stood in the face of the mafia that controlled the construction companies and did something worthy of praise. Her interrogation is unwarranted.

One of the manifestations of the empty propaganda announced by MP Khalil al-Saleh when he promised the citizens that a decision might be issued within a short time allowing the employees to encash 180 days of leave with continuing to work is contrary to the global trend and public health, which requires that the employee takes leave from time to time to increase his/her production.

There are also announcements made by MPs and activists which show explicit and indirect bribe offered to people in their constituencies in the form of weekly banquets

organized in front of their homes to mediating for admission to military and civilian jobs, and others like helping get admission to educational institutions to undeserving students or transfers from workplaces to place them close to their residential areas and live in comfort or get promotion at work or be liable for functional benefits, all at the expense of competence, and with the consent of the ministers who more often than not are helpless and perhaps with the support or acceptance or silence of the government, as if everyone is playing the musical chair game with one eye on the slice of the next cake.

Others also announced their immediate readiness to open the files of overseas medical treatment especially during the summer season and others their readiness to turn their homes in mini offices to handle the requests of their tribesmen 24/7.

Then there are those who have announced their readiness to pay the debts of all imprisoned members of the tribe. A Dr. Colonel’ announced his readiness to provide services to the people of his constituency who are involved in crimes although as a result the prestige and reputation of the public service will be affected.

Keeping an eye closed to all these ‘misdeeds’ makes the Ministry of Interior and the rest of the ministries move in the circle of indictment, and it is worth mentioning what the well-known lawyer Emad al-Saif said about summoning the ‘advertiser’ for interrogation because what the ‘advertisement’ says about services offered are ‘suspicious’ and disturbing since the social fabric and the interests of the rest of the citizens will be destroyed at the expense of the law.

We as well as the others know the weakness of the government and its inability to face this catastrophe, which has surfaced for the first time in the history of the nation’s democratic march.

However, somebody must show courage and stop this declining democratic trend. The security authorities are fully capable of stopping all these abuses, and do not require explicit orders. Capture the queen bee and the rest of the bees will fall in line.

We must close the tap from which the government benefits flow as a result of which the abuses have become a real incurable disease if treatment is delayed. We are addressing the minds and consciences of the remaining honest people among us, perhaps the regression may be remedied.
