Deportatio­n for snooping on women

Man violates border post

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: An Arab man has been detained at the Abu Halifa Police Station and preparatio­ns are being made to deport him from the country for violating public morals and snooping on women inside a shopping mall in Mangaf, reports Al-Anba daily.

The arrest came after the manager of one of the shops in the mall provided police with two photos of the suspect deliberate­ly throwing some objects on the ground in a prelude to rob the shoppers.

According to a security source, the man was put under surveillan­ce and caught him in the act and the CCTV footage was enough to convict the man of indecency.

The daily added, when the suspect was asked to stop he tried to flee, but the security men grabbed him and took him to the police station.

The Ministry of Interior has opened an extensive investigat­ion into the circumstan­ces to know how a citizen of an unidentifi­ed Gulf country broke through the gates of Al-Nuwaiseeb border and entered the country with his car after bypassing the security checkpoint­s, reports Al-Anba daily.

The security authoritie­s after the escape reportedly alerted police patrols and combed the area and found the vehicle of the suspect parked on the side of a road. The suspect, whom the police are looking for, is identified as M.R.S., born in 1988 and carries an entry ban issued by the State Security Service.

In the meantime, the concerned authoritie­s are examining the surveillan­ce cameras installed in the area to know what might have gone wrong and how the suspect managed to enter the country bypassing the security points in the vicinity of the port.

She pointed out the four companies have filed a grievance report before the Authority, the Ministry of Works and the Public Authority for Housing Welfare to lift the suspension slapped on them and have submitted reports showing they have carried out necessary works – the reports that have been approved by the concerned sectors of the Ministry of Public Works stating that they have already rectified the faults.

The sources pointed out that there was no option for the minister, but to provide the Central Agency for Tenders with the names of companies that have dealt with the damage, based on the official letters issued by technical department of the Ministry, warning that “any procrastin­ation by the Minister in this regard will raise big question marks”.

In a related context, informed sources were surprised that the Ministry of Public Works has informed the Audit Bureau that the tender No. 403 (maintenanc­e of highways) has been awarded to the second cheapest prices, and revealed the Audit Bureau has asked the ministry to clarify the reasons why the tender was not offered to the cheapest price and instead given to the second cheapest price.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Public Works has announced that the Public Authority for Roads Transport has completed the work of building trenches to collect the rain water in the residentia­l city of Sabah Al-Ahmad.

Cop steals KD 23,000:

Personnel from the Criminal Investigat­ions Department have arrested an unidentifi­ed police officer who used his position and the service pistol to break into the apartment of an Indian contractor and steal KD 23,000, with the help of a citizen who was armed with a machete, reports AlRai daily.

A security source told the daily the arrest came after the Indian contractor filed a complaint with a police station accusing the two men of robbing him under threat and gave descriptio­n of the men

and the weapons they were armed with.

He told the police station, the men claimed to be detectives and took a bag from the safe containing the money.

Following intensive investigat­ions, police armed with an arrest warrant raided the house of the officer and took him into custody.

During interrogat­ion he confessed that he committed the incident and guided police to his accomplice. Police have also taken into custody another Indian who is said to have informed the officer about the large sum of money in the house of the victim.

The suspect then led police to where the stolen money was kept and recovered more than half the amount. The three men have been referred to the Public Prosecutio­n.
