PARIS, Nov 14, (KUNA): Kuwait’s partaking in the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) conference embodies the country’s aspirations to develop education policies as part of achieving the comprehensive goals, Kuwait’s Undersecretary of Education Ministry Saud Al-Harbi said on Wednesday.

The 40th UNESCO general conference kicked off Tuesday, with the participation of 193 UN member states and 10 non-members.

Attending the event, which will run until Nov 27, will highlight the role of legal and legislative structures in Kuwait through three articles of the Constitution confirming the right to education, Al-Harbi added.

Kuwait has spared no effort to urge the international community to exert efforts for supporting education in the affected countries, he noted, stressing that this support is out of a humanitarian principle of the country, he stressed.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Permanent Delegate to the UNESCO Adam Al-Mulla said to KUNA in a statement that Kuwait has been keen on providing humanitarian aid in different domains, mainly education, to several countries.

He pointed to the Kuwaiti role in backing education for Syrian refuges through holding several donor conferences and offering donations for them.

This enhances Kuwait’s status in the most prestigious international arenas, Al-Mulla pointed out.

He confirmed that Kuwait is one of the leading countries in achieving gender equality and paying attention to education.

In addition, Al-Mulla pointed to Kuwait’s interest in the African Continent through holding a donor conference for backing education in Somalia.
