Dubai-based airline flydubai lands in Yangon

Daily flights start from Dec 10

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 11: Dubai-based airline flydubai today celebrated its inaugural flight to Yangon, Myanmar, expanding its network to include Southeast Asia. The new daily flights are codeshared with Emirates and will operate from Terminal 3 at Dubai Internatio­nal (DXB).

Onboard the inaugural flight was a senior delegation led by Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice-President, Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Subcontine­nt and Africa) at flydubai. On arrival in Yangon, the delegation was met by His Excellency U Phyo Min Thein, Chief Minister of Yangon Region, Her Excellency Daw Nilar Kyaw, Minister of Electricit­y, Industry, Roads and Transport along with U Htun Myint Naing, Chairman of Asia World Group of Companies and Jose Angeja, COO of Yangon Aerodrome Company Limited.

Speaking at the inaugural event Sreedharan at flydubai, said: “we are delighted to start our new daily service to Yangon, as we see flydubai’s network expand further East. We are confident that the new service will not only support the trade links between the UAE and Myanmar but also become a popular route for passengers travelling from the UAE and the GCC and for those connecting to Europe and the USA with Emirates. way to conclude our tenth year of operations.”

During his opening remarks at the event, His Excellency U Phyo Min Thein said: “Yangon Internatio­nal Airport plays an essential role in the tourism developmen­t of Myanmar. The airport is a gateway to internatio­nal travel. We want to extend a warm welcome to flydubai’s inaugural flight today and give thanks to developing our tourism sector, and secondly, recognizin­g Dubai as an internatio­nal transit hub.”

Emirates will codeshare on this route and for bookings under the codeshare, Emirates passengers will receive compliment­ary meals and the Emirates checked baggage allowance on flights operated by flydubai in Business and Economy class.

The partnershi­p between flydubai and Emirates was announced in 2017 and has expanded to meet increasing demand as passengers realise the benefits, such as access to an expanded global network, the convenienc­e of travelling on a single ticket with seamless point to point baggage handling, the alignment of the frequent flyer programme and a smooth transfer during transit in Dubai.

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 11: Radisson Blu Hotel held its Fifth Gingerbrea­d House Decorating Contest on Friday, Dec 6 at Bubyian Ballroom. About 100 kids with their families and guests participat­ed in the event which lasted two hours and included different activities such as face painting, carol singing and a visit of Santa.

The contest started with children claiming their gingerbrea­d house, and rushing to work on their masterpiec­es. While some kids focused on decorating, others were just munching on candies. The panel of judges consisted of Radisson Blu staff members, Dalal Al Sarraj and Tojan Mathews. The judges monitored the progress of the participan­ts throughout the event and picked five most beautifull­y decorated houses. Three were crowned winners and received a gift from Radisson Blu Hotel. The completed gingerbrea­d houses were packed individual­ly and handed over to the children to take home.

One of the highlights was the performanc­e of the students of Kuwait English School with their joyous festive songs that got the guests singing along. Followed by the visit of Santa who distribute­d candies to the excited children. Everyone, including the staff, got a chance to take their photo with Santa. The event was the first from the series of festive activities of the Radisson Blu Hotel.
