MPW to implement 70 ‘projects’ in two years worth KD1.5 billion
MoH gets approval for anti-fungal drugs
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 14: An official in the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) said the ministry will implement approximately 70 projects during the next two years at a cost of about 1.5 billion dinars, including 22 projects to be carried out by the Public Authority for Roads Transport (PART) and the rest pertaining to maintenance and health, reports Al-Anba daily.
The official added the Ministry will implement these projects according to the timetable prepared by companies, contractors and supervisory bodies such as the Audit Bureau, the Central Tender Committee and the Ministry of Finance.
He said that these projects will be implemented into stages and parts so that there is no delay in the completion process.
The official pointed out the ministry seeks to implement its projects according to the ministry’s plan, as well as other projects that fall within the State’s development plan.
He revealed that one of the most prominent projects that have the priority in terms of implementation is the T2 airport building being carried out by the Turkish company Limak Holding and is expected to be completed this year.
He said the road repair and development plan implemented by PART falls within this financial cost of the ministry.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said it has obtained approvals from the regulatory bodies for the supply of anti-fungal drugs in public hospitals at a cost of up to 3 million dinars, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources.
The sources added, the ministry allocates annually between 300 and 350 million dinars to cover the needs of health centers and public hospitals for medications and medical supplies.
The sources stressed the supervisory authorities had asked for the allocation of additional funds to meet the costs of this item more than two years ago, to ensure the drugs are available around the clock, without any discontinuity or lack of quantities in pharmacies.
Fungi cause many different types of diseases, such as asthma or allergies, skin and nail rashes or infections, as well as pneumonia whose symptoms are similar to that of the flu or tuberculosis, in addition to infections in the bloodstream and meningitis.
Fungal diseases may appear through nail infections, others in the mouth, throat and esophagus, and they may affect people who suffer from weak immune systems, so that sometimes they cannot fight infections such as patients with HIV, cancer or organ transplants.
