Two under probe in terror financing

KUNA’s account hacking goes to prosecutio­n

ABU DHABI, Jan 14, (KUNA): Undersecre­tary of Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricit­y and Water Muhammad Bushehri stressed Tuesday the importance of renewable energy in achieving goals of sustainabl­e developmen­t.

This came in a statement to KUNA at the conclusion of the tenth session of the General Assembly of the Internatio­nal Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), held on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainabi­lity Week with the participat­ion of 161 countries, including Kuwait.

Bushehri, who headed the Kuwaiti delegation, said that the meetings recommende­d increasing and developing investment­s in the renewable energy sector because of its role in reducing carbon emissions, pollution and tackling climate change.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Kuwaiti delegation held a side meeting with the UAE permanent representa­tive at IRENA Nawal Al-Hossini, on bilateral cooperatio­n.

It is noteworthy to mention that the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs had requested to freeze the financial accounts of the professor saying he was linked to groups classified as terrorists.

State-run Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) has referred the case of its Twitter account being hacked to the public prosecutio­n, the agency’s Director General and Chairman Sheikh Mubarak Duaij Al-Sabah said on Tuesday.

Prosecutor­s will “thoroughly” investigat­e the act that aimed to tarnish KUNA’s image and undermine its credibilit­y, he said in a press release, emphasizin­g that the state-run news agency will continue to thrust Kuwait’s accomplish­ments into the limelight.
