More than 898 medical emergency cases in 3 days

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 14: Officers from the Emergency Medical Services Department dealt with more than 898 cases during the three-day public mourning holidays (Saturday, Sunday and Monday), transferre­d eight cases to hospitals by air ambulance and handled 97 traffic accidents.

Couple caught drunk:

A man and a woman, both Kuwaiti citizens, were arrested for consuming liquor and crashing their vehicle into a cement barrier in Capital Governorat­e while being chased by two young men, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Eight cases were transferre­d to hospitals by air ambulance – three to Adan Hospital, 4 to Jahra Hospital and one to Mubarak Hospital.

They discovered that the two citizens whose vehicle hit the cement barrier were under the influence of liquor. They revealed that they hit the barrier while being chased by two men, who were present at the site. When securityme­n questioned the two men, they said the man and the woman had made obscene hand gestures at them which was why they chased them.

The man and the woman were arrested and referred to the concerned authoritie­s for necessary legal action.

The sources said Ministry of Health used seven 4WD vehicles, ten buses and 20 pick-ups to provide various services as well as rented 13 other vehicles to provide emergency medical services.

They revealed that the ministry took buses on rent of value KD 431,315 for the transporta­tion of medical staff for a period of six months with effect from beginning of coming February to July.

Hunt for cable thieves:

Officers assigned in the Criminal General Department at the Interior Ministry have started their investigat­ion to arrest the thieves who stole cables and copper wires in various parts of the country.

This came after the officers several complaints about the stealing of cables and copper wires from generators in Jahra, Hawally and Jabriya.

A security team was formed to track down the thieves who are believed to be selling the stolen items in the scrapyard.

According to a security source, the latest complaint about the stealing of cables was lodged at Jabriya Police Station.
