Kuwaitis dominate men’s archery at HH the Amir’s Int’l Shooting GPrix

It was a strong start for the Kuwaiti shooting team in HH the Amir’s Ninth Internatio­nal Shooting Grand Prix after they managed to win three medals two days ago with a gold, silver and bronze, while Italy topped the medal ranking with a gold, two silver and a bronze.

The competitio­n appeared to be a tough one from the start, especially after Serbia, Czech and the UAE entered the struggle line with Kuwait and Italy. It is worth mentioning that 8 countries were in the medal table, indicating severity of the contest.

In Olympic archery, Bader Al-Mutairi, Faisal Baraka and Abdullah AlHarbi won gold, silver and bronze respective­ly in the contest held at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex.

Speaking to reporters following his victory, Al-Mutairi hailed the accomplish­ment he made alongside his compatriot­s in the midst of some of the world’s greatest marksmen.

The 2008 Beijing Olympics gold medalist and Olympics world record holder David Kostelecký returned to the spotlight after winning a gold in Trap event, ahead of the promising Italian shooter Emmanuel Bochileri and Fabio Solami.

In women’s event, the 2019 runners-up and the junior world champion from Italy Gaia Ragazzini won the gold in the final round of

Trap shooting, followed by her compatriot Julia Garatsia (third in junior world cup 2017 and 2018), and the bronze went to Kazakhs Anastasia Davidoff, the 2019 Asian runners-up.

In the 10 meters pistol, the Emirati Ahmad Al-Omairi hit hard to record a gold medal for his country, followed by Pakistani Gholfam Joseph (19 years old) in second place, and the bronze went to Serbian Dameer Mikic.

In the 10 meters rifle, Serbia’s Miloten Stivanovic (2015, 2017 world champion) won the gold, and the silver went to the 2016 world cup runnersup Milinko Sibic, and the bronze went to Lithuanian Carlose Gairoles.

Meanwhile, today two gold medals will be given in the sixth day of the event in Skeet (50 discs) for both men and female events.
