Quick-fire raids net scores of absconders, workers with expired visas in Jleeb, Hasawi

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 27: The campaigns that were organized by a joint committee formed by the Council of Ministers over the past few days in the suburb of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh on the stores and restaurant­s resulted in the seizure of a large number persons reported absconding by their employers, reports Al-Anba daily.

A few days after the committee’s crackdown on the Jleeb AlShuyoukh the shop owners and violating workers did not expect another similar campaign would follow within a short time, which created a state of confusion and did not give sufficient time for the shop owners and the violating workers to make a quick escape.

The committee had earlier, targeted some sites in the area, after it had been previously monitored by inspectors from the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), and it was discovered that there were many violating files hiring a number of bulk workers in the shops and commercial markets.

The Deputy Director General of PAM for the Protection Sector and Chairman of the Joint Committee Dr Mubarak Al-Ja’afour told the daily 108 violators were arrested during the two campaigns, including domestic workers and others who were reported absconding by their sponsors, in addition to a number of workers who were staying in the country after their residence permits had expired.
