‘Need to expedite work on housing cities and provide homes to citizens’

Municipal Council decision unanimous

-

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 28: Members of the Municipal Council have unanimously agreed on the necessity of resolving the housing issue, by accelerating the work of housing cities, and distributing them to citizens, noting that the council has, over many years, provided and allocated lands to the Public Authority for Housing Welfare, while continuing its work looking for new sites to end the housing crisis and support a citizen to find a home, reports Al-Rai daily.

Speaking to the daily, the members affirmed that the Municipal Council is not satisfied with the land currently available and is constantly on the lookout for other venues in coordination with the Kuwait Municipality and the requesting party, especially as the issue is related to the availability of land from other institutions such as the Ministry of Defense and the Kuwait Oil Company.

They pointed out the KOC owns a sufficient number of plots of land to build housing cities to fulfill all requests submitted to them, but there is a problem in implementation and not the allocation.

However, the members differed on their opinions whether building the fourth floor is considered a pivotal part of solving the housing problem, as some considered that allowing this step would reduce expenses, while the other party was firm about the importance of solving the problem, but not by building the fourth floor rather, by providing housing cities and speeding up their implementation.

They stressed that the numbers of citizens are increasing, and therefore “we need new housing areas, and the role of the council is to propose new sites, while at the same time emphasizing the support of these projects, especially in its attempt to accelerate these requests.”

Members did not hide their concern about the delay in some housing projects or other development projects due to the delay in the issuance of the fourth structural plan for the state.

Robot system eyed:

The robot system will be implemented in the new terminal at Kuwait International Airport as part of security and precautionary measures aimed at protecting passengers according to new global systems, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a reliable source from the Ministry of Public Works.

The source affirmed that the best and new technological global systems will be applied at the new airport which will be completed by the end of 2022 through the coordinated efforts of Turkish Company Lymac and the ministry.
