‘Spaces Within Light’ expo: Dar Al Funoon will hold the opening of the exhibition ‘Spaces Within Light’ by Lulwah Al Homoud in the presence of the artist on Jan 27, at 7 pm. The exhibition will continue through to Feb 5.
Lulwah Al Homoud is an established international artist who started her career in London after finishing her MA degree in Art from Central Saint Martins and her style became recognized globally. She exhibited East and West and her work is among the permanent collection of international museums and art institutions such as LACMA, Los Angeles County Museum, USA, The British Museum, UK, Five Continents Museum, Germany, Jeju Museum, Korea and The Green Box Museum, Holland.
She is also in many international publications where her work is featured and collected, by renowned art institutions, among them, The Written Art Foundation in Germany and Barjeel Art Foundation in UAE.
She represented Saudi Arabia at The London Design Biennial in 2018 and at The Hermitage Museum in Russia with other international artists in 2019. Al Homoud’s work was also sold through auction houses such as Sotheby’s, Christies and Bonham’s. Lulwah is currently having her 10th solo exhibition at Dar Al Funoon in Kuwait.

IAK ‘Kulirkalam 2020’:
Idukki Association Kuwait’s much-awaited picnic program named ‘Kulirkalam 2020’ shall be conducted in Abdaly Dar Al Sama Shalet on Feb 14. The organizers informed that the program has been planned in a unique way since the beginning including the journey towards the picnic spot.

GKPA annual meeting:
Kuwait Chapter of the Global Kerala Pravasi Association (GKPA), a global expatriate group, will hold its 4th Annual Area Public Meeting in February. The organization, which was launched in Kuwait in 2016 with the aim of mobilizing expatriates under a non-politi
cal, non-communal and non-regional unity, is now a strong presence in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and the UAE, as well as in 14 countries, including the Maldives, Malaysia and Mozambique.
The GKPA Kuwait Chapter is planning a wide range of annual events in April, completing the area’s general meetings in February-March 2020. Salmiya, Mahaboola, MangafFahaheel, Farwaniya, Abbasiya and Hawally area meetings will be held on consecutive Fridays from the second week of February.
Along with subjective Pravasi conferences, membership card issuance and renewal and NORKA/expatriate pension online registration support will be provided at area meetings.

For school visits, teachers are responsible for their students and are required to cooperate with the staff members of the Grand Mosque.

Indian Embassy SPDC notice:
Attention of all Indian associations/Indian schools in Kuwait is once again drawn to Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) which was introduced by Government of India in the academic year 2006-2007 with the objective to make higher education in India accessible to the children of overseas Indians and promote India as a centre for higher studies.
Under the scheme, 100 PIO/NRI students were awarded scholarship of up to US$ 4,000 per annum for undergraduate courses in Engineering, Technology, Humanities, Liberal Arts, Commerce, Management, Journalism, Hotel Management, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and some other courses.
The scheme is open to NRIs/PIOs from over 40 countries (including Kuwait) having substantial Indian Diaspora population.
The Scheme was revamped and launched in July 2016. Under the revamped Scheme, number of scholarships has been enhanced from 100 to 150 with introduction of 50 scholarships for children of Indian workers employed in the Emigration Check Required (ECR) countries. The Scheme is now applicable to four categories of applicants: (i) Persons of Indian Origin (ii) Non-Resident Indians (iii) Children of Indian workers working in ECR countries (including Kuwait).
(iv) Children of Indian workers in ECR countries — studying in India
The institutions that are covered under this Scheme are:
(i) NITs, IIITs, Schools of Planning and Architecture
(ii) “A” Grade institutions accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC).
(iii) Other institutions covered under Direct
Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme.
Income criteria will be applicable to all four categories. Applicants will seek scholarships after they obtain admission in the approved list of educational institutions.
