Govt strategy for jobs slammed Artiste gets 10 years for selling drugs
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 29: Chairman of the parliamentary Human Resources Development Committee MP Khalil Al-Saleh confirmed that they discussed the State’s replacement and employment policies, reports Al-Rai daily.
Al-Saleh disclosed a total of 4,640 expatriate employees were laid off in two years and another 25,000 will be replaced with Kuwaitis soon. He said the number of Kuwaitis waiting for jobs has decreased to 6,000 and 1,500 of them will be employed in the banking sector in the next few days while the others will be hired by government agencies.
He added that according to the replacement policy; 3,140 expatriates were dismissed in 2017 and 1,500 in 2018. He also criticized the absence of a government strategy for the recruitment of Kuwaitis in the private sector. He cited the lack of encouragement and commitment on the part of nurses despite the fact that there are several openings in this field.

The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) is waiting for the response of the Cabinet regarding the national employment percentage in the private sector whether to implement it or postpone the implementation for six months to reconsider the decision, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.
Sources affirmed PAM is ready for either implementation or postponement depending on the response of the Cabinet.
Meanwhile, Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Saoud Al-Harbi issued a decision appointing Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education using his company as a cover for illicit activities. He had converted his office inside a shopping mall into a laboratory for producing large quantities of chemicals. It indicated that the defendant used to import raw materials from abroad to manufacture the drugs inside Kuwait, taking advantage of the fact that the raw materials were not banned from importing into the country as consignments intended for women cosmetics shops. He was using his Iraqi partner to sell the products after manufacturing.

On the other hand, high level educational sources has unveiled a plan to reshuffle high and mid-ranking officials as the minister is keen on pumping fresh blood into supervisory posts.
Sources added the reshuffling will continue to cover most officials, including those assigned in central departments in order to exchange experiences.
