First Arab Junior Boxing Championship concludes
Algeria top medal standings, Egypt in 2nd place and Syria 3rd
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 29: Algeria won first place in the 1st Arab Junior Boxing Championship which concluded Wednesday evening at the Sulaibikhat Sports Club.
The Algerian boxing team completed the championship with the lion’s share of medals, bagging five gold, three silver and four bronze medals.
The second place went to Egypt with four gold, two silver and one bronze medals. The third place went to Syria which bagged two gold, two silver and a bronze medals, followed by Iraq in fourth place with two gold and two silver medals. At the end of the final round matches, the winners of the top places were honored by the International Boxing Federation’s official Dr Muhammad Mustasan, the Chairperson of the Arab Boxing Federation Dr Youssef Al-Kazim, and the Chairperson of the Kuwaiti Boxing Federation, Muhammad Mansi.
The Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Sulaibikhat Sports Club Saad Anaad, members of the Board of boxing federations, and heads of delegations were also present.
Iraqi boxer Dergham Karim, who won a gold in the 70 kg category, won the Best Boxer award in the championship. The fair play award went to the Kuwaiti team and was received by Shabaab Al-Qahtani. The heads of delegations exchanged memorial shields after crowning the boxers with various medals.
