KUWAIT CITY, Feb 1: Kuwaitization of government jobs is in full swing in accordance to the resolution of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and the decisions of the Council of Ministers in this regard in a bid to eliminate the phenomenon of unemployment among university graduates in various disciplines and specifically in the technical jobs needed by state projects in its current five-year development plan, reports Al-Nahar daily quoting informed sources.

In this context, Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water Dr Khaled AlFadhel said the number of jobs for which Kuwaitis replaced expatriates were 324. From this, 158 jobs were replaced in the 2019/2020 budget and 166 jobs in the 2020/2021 budget.

Regarding the number of job vacancies on the budget of Ministry of Electricity and Water, the minister indicated that the number of vacancies is 105, and are used in cases of transfers from other ministries, or in cases of rectifying status of Kuwaiti employees.

Regarding the number of vacancies and the reasons why they have not been occupied to date, Dr Al-Fadhel affirmed that there are no vacancies that have remained open from previous years.

The minister’s response came to a question about the number of jobs in which Kuwaiti manpower have managed to replace expatriates as per the Kuwaitization policy in Ministry of Electricity and Water and its affiliated bodies since the issuance of CSC’s resolution No. 11/2017 regarding the rules and procedures of government jobs.

It is worth noting that CSC issued resolution No. 11/2017 on Sept 11, 2017 regarding the rules and procedures for Kuwaitization of government jobs. As per this resolution, the government agencies are obliged to annually reduce the number of non-Kuwaiti employees working for them.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education is preparing to receive more than 400 thousand male and female students in the various levels of government and private schools, tomorrow morning, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The schools last Wednesday began to prepare for the start of the second semester, amid questions about the extent to which schools complete preparations to resume studies at various levels.

In this context, informed educational sources told the daily the General Services Department has played its role of cleaning the school facilities and preparing them to receive students on Sunday morning.
