KUWAIT CITY, Feb 1: MP Riyad Al-Adasani has submitted a report about the parliamentary technical follow up on the criminal network of the former Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS) director general to the National Assembly.

Al-Adasani affirmed the report is based on responses to parliamentary questions regarding the issue and other official sources. The report is aimed at urging the government to unveil procedures taken in this regard, especially the activation of the extradition treaty signed by Kuwait and the United Kingdom. This issue has been the topic of parliamentary queries and grilling, he revealed.

In another development, AlAdasani has confirmed the formation of a fact-finding committee tasked to investigate Al-Durra Domestic Labor Recruitment Company. He said this is the beginning of governmental steps towards addressing the issue, indicating he is waiting for the report of the committee and completion of relevant procedures to put an end to this issue.

Meanwhile, MP Muhammad Hayef revealed the government’s report on Bedouns, which was handed over to the United Nations, highlights administrative corruption and lack of credibility of the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR). He asked if the senior officials at the CSRSIR are ready for an open debate with the parliamentary Human Rights Committee on this issue for the people to figure out the truth.

MP Dr Abdulkareem Al-Kandari called on members of the committee to look into the report on Bedouns and other issues presented by the government’s representatives during the Human Rights Forum held in Geneva earlier.

MP Abdullah Fehad also asked committee to investigate the report and find out why Kuwait is depicted as a country that does not respect international laws and does not fulfill its commitments. He believes the Bedouns issue will be solved only by ensuring justice for everyone.

Moreover, MP Mubarak AlHajraf

has forwarded questions to Health Minister Dr Bassel Humoud Hamad Al-Sabah about the accomplishments of the Permanent Committee for Medicines from Jan 1, 2017 till the date of submitting the queries; budget for medicines and medical supplies in the last three years; minutes of committee meetings from Jan 1, 2017 till date; quantity of expired medicines and medical supplies in the last three fiscal years; cost of expired medicines; comments of the State Audit Bureau (SAB) on the issue and the ministry’s response. He wants to know how the ministry deals with expired medicines and if there is an agreement with suppliers – written or verbal – on handling expired medicines.

He also inquired about the number of official trips and copies of invitations or assignments since the minister assumed office till date, number of days the minister spent in each trip according to dates stamped on his passport, names and positions of his companions, and total cost of such trips since his appointment till date.

He asked about the dates of inaugurating public hospitals and medical centers. He inquired if the ministry is coordinating with its public works counterpart in ensuring the safety of hospital buildings. If yes, he wants to see the technical reports on the safety conditions of each hospital.

He requested for copies of the decision appointing Dr Abdulaziz Al-Rashweed to the Kuwaiti Health Office in London and the latter’s academic certificates accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education. In case these certificates are not accredited, he wants to know reasons behind the non-accreditation.

In addition, MP Faisal AlKandari has submitted questions to Minister of Oil, Electricity and Water Dr Khaled Ali Al-Fadhel about a report published by a local daily that the volunteer team KFlag achieved a new Guinness World record in a sports activity sponsored by Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI) and Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Explorations Company (KUFPEC).

He wants to know the amount that KPI and KUFPEC spent on the event and which item of the budget did the money come from. He asked if there are specific departments in the two companies tasked to organize and manage sports activities. If yes, he wants to know the names of the directors of these departments, names of the KFlag team members and their jobs.
