angry. I took too many risks there, wanted to force a good result,” Dressen said. “For this race, I wanted to be more relaxed, to have fun at the start, and to enjoy the race.”

It was the fourth straight downhill with a winner from the home nation, after Paris won in Bormio, Feuz in Wengen and Mayer in Kitzbuehel.

“It looks like home courses are suiting us all well. Winning at home is always special,” Dressen said.

The race took place in perfect, sunny conditions, but on a shortened course after the only training run on Friday was held from a lowered start.

FIS rules forced organizers to use the reserve start also on Saturday as the top section had not been part of the mandatory training session.

It was the final race for two-time World Cup downhill champion Peter Fill, who announced his retirement last week. The 37-year-old Italian skied down at a leisurely pace while waving goodbye to coaches and spectators alongside the course.

Fill won the downhill season title in 2016 and 2017, and the Alpine combined title the following year. He also won silver in super-G and bronze in combined at world championships.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 1: The first bowling championship for men, women and youths, which kicksoff today at the headquarters of Kuwait Bowling Club in Salmiya, will continue until Feb 8.

This is the outcome of Board Chairman of the club Sheikh Talal Al-Muhammad’s bid to expand the participation base and discover new talents for the game to develop and prosper in the country.

Unprecedented cash prizes will be awarded to the first to 16th placers in the men’s category and the first placer will walk away with KD 750. In the women’s category, cash prizes will be given to the first to eighth placers and first to fourth placers in the youths’ category.

This championship is expected to attract a huge number of participants from different age groups of both genders due to the popularity of the game among all age groups; and in light of Kuwait hosting a number of continental and international bowling tournaments which greatly increased the popularity of the game.

The championship is one of several local tournaments organized by the club throughout the year in order to widen exposure and experiences of players.
