Egbo leads No. 2 Baylor women over Texas

Elger, Creighton upset No. 11 DePaul 63-61

AUSTIN, Texas, Feb 1, (AP): Queen Egbo scored 17 points and No. 2 Baylor used a big third quarter to extend its domination over Big 12 rivals Texas with a 64-44 win.

Egbo and Didi Richards each scored eight points in the third as Baylor quickly stretched a five-point halftime lead to 18. The Lady Bears outscored Texas 23-5 in the period.

Baylor (19-1, 8-0) has won 21 of the last 22 against Texas and stretched its Big 12 regular-season winning streak to 49 games. The Lady Bears haven’t lost in the conference in the regular season since Texas beat them in 2017. three 3-pointers during the third quarter when the Bluejays (14-7, 6-4 Big East) cut a 20-point halftime deficit to within 49-46 after outscoring the Blue Demons 25-8 in the period.

Creighton tied it at 50 early in the fourth quarter and never trailed again. Lexi Held tied it at 53 with a three-point play for DePaul (19-3, 9-1), but Elger gave the Bluejays the lead for good with a 3-pointer and Carly Bachelor’s layup with 3:08 left gave Creighton its largest lead at 63-57.

Chante Stonewall scored four straight points for DePaul and Kelly Campbell drove the lane with a chance to tie it for the Blue Demons, but Bachelor blocked Campbell’s layup attempt with 5 seconds left and Elger secured the rebound.

Creighton was without Jaylyn Agnew, its leading scorer on the season at 19.8 points per game. Agnew’s last game was on Jan 17.

Missouri St 90, Bradley 56 In Springfiel­d, Missouri, Brice Calip and Jasmine Franklin scored 15 points each and No. 24 Missouri State beat Bradley 90-56 to tie the Braves atop the Missouri Valley Conference.

Alexa Willard added 13 points and Sydney Wilson 10 for the Lady Bears (17-3, 7-1), who improved to 9-0 at home and extended their win streak over Bradley to six. The Lady Bears made 21 of 26 free throws while hitting 9 of 22 3-point tries for 41%.

Zimbabwe set Sri Lanka 361 runs to win. Sri Lanka was content to bat the day out knowing the draw was enough to take the series.

Zimbabwe continued its second innings from the day before but faced just one ball at the start of the final day before declaring on 247-7.

Zimbabwe captain Sean Williams faced that one delivery, the first of the day, hit it for six to go to his halfcentur­y, and then declared. Williams was 53 not out and marched off after flicking the ball from Suranga Lakmal over the backward square leg boundary.
