Two Jordanian teachers offering private tuitions for cash expelled

‘No leniency with labor law violators’

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 24: The Public Authority for Manpower and Immigration Investigations in coordination with other concerned authorities has deported two Jordanian teachers working in a private school for their involvement in what PAM called forbidden activity, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources.

This happened when PAM received reports from parents of students that a physics teacher and another teaching mathematics were giving private lessons (tuitions), and that they were forcing students to make a group of students each and pay 40 dinars per hour for each subject.

According to the sources, PAM in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the members of Tripartite Committee, the two teachers were arrested and detained in the Immigration Investigation Building, and then transferred to the deportation center and sent back to Jordan.

According to the sources, this incident is the first of its kind, in which two teachers are expelled for giving private lessons.

The sources stated that the Tripartite Committee deals with all correspondence received by it, in addition to monitoring labor cases that do not comply with laws, including the ‘private’ teachers, and that people violating the laws – including teachers or those with engineering specialties who teach mathematics and physics.

Most of these people hold family residence permits and practice teaching illegally. People who are caught are dealt with and the file of the person is referred to the competent authority and the companies in which they work or schools are notified of the violation, to be corrected and referred to the management of labor relations.

The sources pointed in 2019 a total of 6,250 violators of the Labor Law were arrested, most of them (3,743 workers) from the Farwaniya Governorate.
