CSC approves request to exempt MoE researchers from replacement policy

Egyptian Embassy stops okaying work permits for farmers

-

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 24: The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has approved the request to exempt social and psychological researchers in the Ministry of Education from the replacement policy, reports Al-Rai daily quoting an educational source.

The source disclosed the number of positions that will be frozen decreased from 500 to 245 in Fiscal 2019/2020 due to this exemption.

The source confirmed the Administrative Sector in the ministry has informed all sectors where certain positions will be frozen including accountants, legalists and engineers.

The source added the Financial Sector specified six accountants who will be informed about the termination of their services by the beginning of May.

In a move aimed at protecting Egyptians from human and visa traffickers, the Labor Office in the Egyptian Embassy has stopped approving work permits for farmers, reports Al-Qabas daily.

This step was taken after the embassy decided in April 2019 not to approve work permits for small enterprises as hundreds of Egyptians have fallen victim to visa trafficking, especially since the law prohibits their transfer from one sector to another whether those registered as employees, farmers or fishermen.

Sources unveiled the embassy’s plan to include fishermen and other categories of workers who cannot transfer to another sector due to irregularities in the recruitment process linked with visa trafficking. Sources affirmed there has been coordination with Kuwaiti governmental bodies in this regard.

It has been reported the price of visas for Egyptian farmers, fishermen and small enterprises is not less than KD 1,000.

According to official statistics issued by the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) for the year 2019, the number of Egyptian workers reached 520,000 or 18 percent of the total workforce in the country.

The State of Kuwait celebrates on Feb 25-26 the country’s 59th National Day and 29th Anniversary of Liberation; occasions that spread joy and amongst people.

Coinciding with the event, most Kuwaiti houses and places of

patriotic pride dwellings put on a full display of the celebrations, displaying the colors of the national flag and portraits of the Kuwaiti leaderships. (KUNA)
