KUWAIT CITY, Feb 24: The Court of Appeals upheld the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which ruled in favor of the validity and effectiveness of the contract between a citizen and a real estate office to sell a plot of land in a Gulf country.

She indicated that the responsibility of the transfer of ownership process was in the hands of the real-estate office, and based on the procedures followed in the sale of the land, the real-estate office is obliged to transfer the ownership in line with the provisions of articles 466, 467, and 468 of the Civil Code.

‘Arrest MP’s son’:

Prosecutor General Dherar Al-Asousi has issued an arrest order against the son of an MP as well as two secretaries of the latter based on allegations of insulting a traffic officer, pulling out from the patrol vehicle the MP’s son who was caught driving without a driving license, and helping him escape.

According to the case file, a traffic officer affiliated to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Traffic Department filed a case at Riqqa Police Station against an MP and his son.

He explained that he was patrolling Egaila area when he noticed a juvenile driving a vehicle. He ordered the juvenile to pull over and demanded to see the registration book of the vehicle and his driving license. When he failed to produce them, the officer ordered him to sit in the patrol vehicle. The juvenile informed his father about the incident, and few minutes later, the father, who is an MP, arrived at the location with five other individuals, opened the door of the patrol vehicle and pulled out his son.

Meanwhile,Attorney General Dirar Al-Asousi has ordered imprisonment of two secretaries of an incumbent MP for 21 days, referring them to the Central Prison for humiliating a police officer on duty and helping the MP’s teenage son to escape from a police car after being arrested for driving without a license.

According to the case files, the officer – stationed at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Traffic Department – filed a case against the MP, indicating that the son contacted his father after being arrested for driving without a license. Within a few minutes, the father and five others arrived at the scene and they forcefully took the son from the traffic patrol car.

On the other hand, the Public Prosecution detained an Egyptian expatriate for 21 days and referred him to the Central Prison for uploading a video clip on social media platforms as the clip contained insults believed to be directed at Kuwaitis.

The Egyptian posted on his own account a video containing pictures of a main street in Kuwait and the voice of an elderly Egyptian man whose picture did not appear, uttering inappropriate words. After the video went viral, it appeared that he was intentionally offending Kuwait.

Preacher jailed:

The Court of Appeal nullified the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance, which acquitted a Kuwaiti cleric of the allegation of offending the UAE, and thereby sentenced him to three years in jail with hard labor.

The case file indicated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs filed a complaint against the preacher and pleaded the court to charge the suspect and slap on him severe punishment, considering his action was capable of severing bilateral diplomatic tie between the two countries.

The ministry cited Article 4 of Law No. 30/1970 concerning state security crimes, stipulating that anyone who recruit soldiers against any friendly nation or perpetrated acts deemed offensive against them, in addition to any action that can lead to the danger of war or sever diplomatic ties with the friendly country, shall be liable to a minimum of three years in jail.
