Awareness campaign:

The Assistant Undersecre­tary of the Ministry of Interior for Traffic and Operations Affairs MajorGener­al Jamal Al-Sayegh has called on the Directorat­e General of Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Interior Ministry to organize an awareness campaign to urge citizens and expatriate­s not to leave their vehicles in an operating position, to ensure the vehicles are secured and not to leave the windows open, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to the instructio­ns issued by Major-General Jamal Al-Sayegh if anyone is caught leaving the car engine on when not behind the wheel, citation will be issued.

According to a security source, this came following the increasing reports of vehicle thefts (73 cases) in January.

According to the source, the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior received reports of 22 vehicles thefts from the Jahra Governorat­e, 21 from Farwaniya, 15 vehicles from Ahmadi, 11 vehicles from Hawalli and four vehicles from the Capital.

No such reports were received from Mubarak Al Kabeer Governorat­e.

Kuwaiti dies in mishap:

A Kuwaiti citizen born, 18, succumbed to injuries and an Asian expatriate was airlifted to Jahra hospital in critical condition after a ghastly accident in Abdali area involving two vehicles. The body was deposited to Forensics.

Meanwhile, five individual­s suffered various degrees of injuries in a two vehicle collision at Mubarak Al-Kabeer. They were referred to Adan Hospital for treatment.

4 hurt in fight:

A quarrel broke out inside Abu Futaira Police Station among a group of Kuwaiti citizens including a military officer and a lawyer. Four suspects sustained injuries in the quarrel, and another suspect fractured his fingers.

According to security sources, the quarrel was controlled after the police officers at the station received additional support.
