Municipali­ty launches huge campaign to clean roads and spray disinfecta­nts

KUWAIT CITY, March 23: Kuwait Municipali­ty, with cooperatio­n of a private company specialize­d in supply of cleaning equipment and machines, launched the biggest cleaning campaign in the country. It will involve removal of constructi­on debris, cleaning roads and streets and spraying disinfecta­nts, and removing everything that mars the beauty of the areas in all governorat­es. This campaign is aimed at limiting the spread of coronaviru­s in the country, reports AlSeyassah daily.

According to a press release, State Minister for Municipal Affairs and Director General of Kuwait Municipali­ty have been keenly following up the operations which began in Farwaniya and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh areas. The campaign will include South Farwaniya area opposite Ghazali Road, Dajeej area, and Ardiya Industrial Area.

Kuwait Municipali­ty stressed the need for private sector’s cooperatio­n and participat­ion for the benefit of Kuwait, adding that it has made available all necessary equipment to assist in cleaning and disinfecti­ng all the governorat­es.

The official spokesman of the ministry Engr Abdullah Al-Ajmi said, “During a meeting, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Public Works agreed to discuss latest developmen­ts in the coronaviru­s outbreak and highlight the buildings which the Ministry of Public Works has allocated for this purpose. They will visit these buildings to determine the needs in order for them to be suitable for housing the labor and to apply measures for protecting these labor from contractin­g coronaviru­s”.

He revealed that the meeting was attended by the Undersecre­tary of Ministry of Health Dr Mustafa AlRedha, Assistant Undersecre­tary for Technical Affairs Dr Abdulrahma­n Al-Mutairi, and Assistant Undersecre­tary for Services Affairs Abdulaziz Al-Tashi as well as Undersecre­tary of Ministry of Public Works Ismail Ali, and Assistant Undersecre­tary for Maintenanc­e Affairs Abdulaziz Al-Sabah.

‘Killer is bedoun’:

The man who killed the Indian driver in Al-Nahda is a bedoun and not Kuwaiti as was mentioned earlier, reports Al-Rai daily.

A security source said the investigat­ions indicated that the murderer was not a Kuwaiti born in 1993, as mentioned earlier but a bedoun who is believed to be in his 20s.

Following the argument with the driver, the suspect allegedly went to the kitchen and stabbed the driver in the neck several times on a dispute over a trivial matter.

Release ordered:

In a humanitari­an gesture that reflects the spirit of the law, and to prevent overcrowdi­ng, for fear that any suspect infected with the coronaviru­s, civil execution judges have decided to release all those arrested for failure to pay debts, reports Al-Qabas daily.

A source familiar with the issue told the daily said since the Council of Ministers has issued a decision to suspend government work, civil execution judges have as usual have got in touch with the Sentences Enforcemen­t Department of the Ministry of Interior on the issue of debts.

According to the source it is unusual that the judges the judges release arrested people but given the exceptiona­l circumstan­ces in the country and for fear of the virus spreading the decision has been taken in this regard.

Kuwaiti referred to SS:

Personnel from the Criminal Investigat­ion Department (CID) has referred an unidentifi­ed Kuwaiti to the State Security police for tearing up the picture of prominent political figure inside the Jahra stables, reports AlRai daily.

The daily added the suspect appeared abnormal when he was arrested. He allegedly, after tearing the poster, boasted about what he had done.

The source stated, “The detectives referred the accused to the State Security Service for investigat­ion to know the motive behind his acts.”
