Salaries of all ‘workers’ disbursed, no negligence in this aspect: MAIA
‘Ministry won’t be unfair with any employee’
KUWAIT CITY, March 26: Undersecretary of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs(MAIA) Eng Farid Emadi announced the disbursement of salaries to all employees of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, irrespective of whether they are appointed to public grades, wages, revenues, or on assignment clause, reports Al-Anba daily.
He stressed that the ministry will not be unfair with any employee because “this is our professional, humanitarian and ethical duty”.
Eng Emadi disclosed that the ministry is continuing with its role, based on the Cabinet’s decision, to warn about the dangers of the new coronavirus via various means of communication and multiple channels such as Kuwait TV and other satellite channels and Kuwait Radio.
Broadcasting 100+ clips – Eng Emadi said Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, in the past and present, has been broadcasting more than 100 excellent clips of clerics (sheikhs), scholars, imams and preachers of the ministry concerning various topics, as well as informational directives so that everyone can benefit from them in the shortest possible time as these clips do not exceed one or two minutes.
He clarified that the ministry has replaced the Friday sermon with an orientation lesson on Kuwait TV delivered by Sheikh Ali Saud Al-Kulaib, adding, “In the coming weeks, God willing, other sheikhs will be assigned to guide the community with appropriate topics every week”.
Eng Emadi said Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has developed a plan to keep pace with the events and all variables.
Dozens of posters in 30 languages –
Eng Emadi explained that the efforts currently being exerted by the ministry include publication of posters which include all directives issued by the government’s communication center, as well as the necessary legal (Sharia) directives in such circumstances.
They are published in more than 30 languages so that all members of the communities residing on the land of Kuwait benefit from them.
From the religious point of view and human duty, Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs send such useful information in multiple languages to all Islamic centers and concerned authorities in different countries.
Strong support for charity – Regarding the ministry’s support for charity work of other parties, the undersecretary said the ministry participated in a meeting with charitable societies, the Zakat House and Kuwait Awqaf Public Foundation to discuss providing support to all needy families inside Kuwait.
He highlighted the role played by Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs as a strong supporter of such efforts.
Offices that have not stopped operating –
Concerning offices that are open in Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs since the announcement of suspension of work in government agencies, the undersecretary explained that there are many entities that work in the ministry, including mosques from where the “call to prayer” for each prayer is performed, as well as entities responsible for periodic maintenance of mosques, cleaning and sterilizing various mosques, among others.
The Financial Affairs Department is also working on paying salaries and for supplies and contracts for the operation of mosques. Also, the Media Department and the Department for Monitoring Community and Imams’ Activities are participating in the media campaign.
Quotes of the prophet – Eng Emadi affirmed the importance of the commitment of all citizens and residents living on the territories of Kuwait to the government’s instructions, and their need to abide by the partial curfew imposed by the Council of Ministers with the aim of preserving the health and safety of all.
He highlighted that there are prophetic sayings which assure reward for those who stay in their homes at the time of the epidemic, especially with a patient, which is equal to reward of a martyr, even if he did not die.
The undersecretary said Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has published these authentic hadiths in the ministry’s reports.
No violation of the ministry’s decisions –
Regarding the ministry’s observations of violations of its decision to close mosques at the time of Jum’ah (Friday prayers) and the five obligatory prayers, Eng Emadi said, “All mosques are being monitored and so far, we have not recorded any complaints about any mosque being opened to pray during the times of Jum’ah or the five obligatory prayers. All imams are committed to that”.
He added, “There are few cases of a limited number of community members who prayed in the courtyards of the mosque during some of the obligatory prayers.
However, they were dispersed to preserve their health and safety and they were warned against violating the Awqaf fatwa.”
