KUWAIT CITY, March 26: The Kuwait Banks Association (KBA) in coordination with the Central Bank of Kuwait has announced that Kuwaiti banks are closely monitoring all developments related to the efforts exerted by all state institutions to combat the spread of the coronavirus and work within the directives of the Central Bank to enhance the financial and economic stability of Kuwait and ensure that financial services reach all segments of the society without interruption at this exceptional stage, given that the banking sector is the main supporter and the primary driver of the wheel of economic activity in the country, reports Al-Rai daily.

In its press statement, the KBA stressed that the local banks are keen to play their role within the framework of their national responsibilities towards supporting the government’s efforts in taking preventive measures to counter the spread of the coronavirus.

The KBA emphasized based on the banks’ keenness to serve the interests of their customers and not to disrupt their businesses, it continues to provide credit services to its corporate clients, even during the period of public holiday announced by the state, through the headquarter of each bank.

Safe

In addition, the banks are committed to providing all safe and easy electronic banking services round the clock, including local bank-to-bank and foreign transfers, whether through banks’ websites or their applications, or calling the account officials or by calling customer service numbers, in line with the Ministry of Health’s instructions to reduce the number of bank customers to preserve the safety of clients and employees of local banks.

Local banks affirmed their full commitment to all instructions issued by the Ministry of Health in this regard, as banks have taken a number of precautionary and preventive measures to preserve the safety of all valued bank customers and employees in the banking sector.

Some of these measures include sterilization of ATM machines in public places, the airport, commercial complexes and all bank branches and machines spread across Kuwait by placing containers containing disinfectants next to all the machines, so that customers can use them before and after each process they perform on the machines, and also advised traders with point-ofsale devices (K-NET) to take similar measures to protect customers and preserve their safety.

The KBA stressed that local banks, as part of the national fabric and an essential component of the Kuwaiti economy system, will spare no effort in the coming stage, whether in extending a helping hand or taking any measures and procedures, according to the results of the developments related to the country’s confrontation with the Corona virus, which would Maintaining the safety of all citizens and residents in the country.
