Toastmasters hold online meeting to pay ‘gratitude’ to medics
‘A tribute and an expression of thanks to our silent heroes in medical sector’
‘F eeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.’ — William Arthur Ward
In these trying times of despair that we are all experiencing across the world, it is hard to focus on any single thing. Tempers keep flaring. And patience runs thin.
Now think about this: If it is so hard for us, who are on lockdown at home, working from home, with only ourselves and our families, then just imagine the challenges and trauma that a person who works in the medical sector goes through!
Doctors, nurses, paramedics, hospital staff, and by extension, even people who work in pharmacies, are the cape-less superheroes who today are toiling round the clock to make sure we are safe.
We at Toastmasters International recognize and respect the immense selfless contributions made to humanity by these people.
Dream-Weavers Toastmasters dedicated their meeting, on Saturday, March 28, to extend their gratitude to the entire medical fraternity in Kuwait, and across the world.
This special meeting was held as a joint meeting with the Desert Pioneers Toastmasters Club as the co-hosts.
As a marked tribute to the medical fraternity, a special segment, where DPTM’s very own TM Freddie Hermosora, who is a nurse in the Kuwait Ministry of Health, was engaged in a tête-à-tête with our Area Director, TM Allen Paul.
TM Allen and TM Freddie discussed the challenges and sacrifices that a medical worker goes through on a daily basis, with a special focus on the current virus situation.
The event also had a remarkable lineup of prepared speeches, and Table Topics.
The event drew a sizable audience to display their solidarity and express their gratitude for the great sacrifices made by our brethren in the medical sector.
We at Toastmasters International, forever thrive to focus on the individual skills of a person in view of making the person a better leader, and an exceptional communicator.
However, we also give as much importance to the society as a whole and very frequently we use our meetings to spread social awareness about various things that need public attention.
