KUWAIT CITY, April 7: Ministry of Education has taken strong precautionary measures to prevent a possible spread of the emergent coronavirus in 25 buildings serving as accommodation for female teachers in various regions, and for scholarship students from various countries studying in Kuwait, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Director of Social and Psychological Services Department in the Ministry of Education Faisal Al-Ustaz said: The ministry, through relevant departments and directorates, has yet to detect any symptom of the new coronavirus in any of the 25 teachers’ buildings housing 1,088 teachers in the service of six educational areas. The teachers are distributed among 640 Egyptians, 78 Syrians, 182 Tunisians, 56 Jordanians, 119 Palestinians and Moroccans, 6 Indians, Iranians and Senegalese. All of them are very cooperative with the administration and understand the current emergency and exceptional situation.

Several instructions were issued before the partial ban that includes not going out unless it’s necessary, and which obligates everyone after the partial ban decision. The teachers were informed of the State’s decisions concerning the process of purchasing their needs, which was organized in a manner that two female teachers leave the accommodation only to provide the needs of all women present amid other measures to protect teachers from the virus threat.

Preventive

He added the ministry has taken all preventive measures to secure the student dormitory in Qortuba that accommodates 211 scholarship students from 37 countries in Kuwait studying in the middle school and secondary levels. The students are committed to staying in the ministry dormitories at Qurtoba and Hawalli, in addition to 58 other students from 20 countries sponsored by the ministry at Rabiah Al-Adawiah Hostel in Hawalli.

Al-Ustaz stressed that follow-up of male and female students is done on a daily basis through field visits or telephone contact by communicating with male and female housing supervisors. He said working hours inside the hostels have been modified to suit the current situation, besides taking some administrative decisions such as visits, exit and other measures to ensure safety of male and female students while providing rooms for male and female workers.

He stated the Department of Social and Psychological Services provided protective materials, devices and medical products such as gloves, masks, sterilizers, medical refreshments, and cleaning materials through donors.

The department has also provided devices for measuring temperature in each residence, in addition to personal cleaning bags for 230 male students and 70 female students from donors, as well as food and clothing.
