‘Commerce’ fixes prices of basic commodities
Ministry okays online system for purchasing from co-ops
KUWAIT CITY, April 7: The Council of Ministers have confirmed that the prices of food and consumer goods for citizens and expatriates are the same and said the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has fixed the prices of basic commodities such as meat, chicken, fish and other products, reports AlAnba daily quoting sources.
The same sources said even if the price of these goods in the international market exceeds the fixed price, the country will bear the difference so that the sale remains at the price fixed by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Meanwhile, the sources assured everyone that there is absolutely no truth about the shortage of food and that the World Health Organization did not prevent imports from any country in the world.
The sources stated cargo planes and ships are still working around the clock, so “we have implemented, and we are continuing to implement plans to increase the strategic stockpile to ensure food security, so do not worry about anything and do not resort to panic buying.”
The sources reiterated that the implementation of the economic package will be through legislation.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has approved an online system that allows citizens and expatriates to put their purchase orders for cooperative societies in their place of residence,” reports Al-Rai daily quoting governmental sources.
Sources disclosed that through this system, the consumer will receive a special barcode, which allows him to enter the cooperative society for shopping.
Sources said a copy of the barcode will be sent to the Ministry of Interior every time the consumer gets this permission.
