Al-Ajman Weyam tribe launches public campaign to support needy
KUWAIT CITY, April 14: The people of Al-Ajman Weyam tribe, in coordination with the government agencies, are organizing a two-day humanitarian campaign dubbed “Absheri Kuwait” (Good Tidings for Kuwait) to support the State’s efforts in favor of those affected by the emergent coronavirus through the distribution of meals to needy families and workers who are deeply affected by the crisis, reports Al-Rai daily.
Head of the organizing committee Osama Hamad Al-Mikhyal affirmed that the campaign comes out of social responsibility and it’s in line with high directives of the Amir of the country Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, who’s the Humanitarian Leader. He stressed the initiative is to strengthen Kuwait’s pioneering role in humanitarian and charitable work with the aim of supporting government efforts, in light of the coronavirus crisis. This requires the concerted and coherent efforts of government and the people.
On the mechanism of donation, Al-Mikhyal explained that “the campaign does not receive cash donations. Rather, the donor is absolutely free to choose any restaurant to provide meals, noting meal coupons will be delivered to the committee, which will collect the meals and subsequently deliver to the Red Crescent Society
for distribution in coordination with the government agencies. The committee is keen on the freedom of donors to choose the restaurant, saying they can also donate through two particular restaurants in coordination with the committee.”
He stressed that Al-Ajman Weyam tribe’s campaign is working to consolidate the charitable work the people of Kuwait have been known for in all conditions and crises.
