Ministry working round the clock to monitor their conditions abroad: Al-Subaie
KUWAIT CITY, April 20: Assistant Undersecretary for Social Welfare Sector at the Ministry of Social Affairs Muslim Al-Subaie has confirmed that a number of foster children are currently outside the country for the purposes of studying and tourism, reports Al-Anba daily.
In a press statement, Al-Subaie affirmed the ministry is working round the clock to monitor their conditions abroad and urge them to adhere to the instructions of Kuwaiti embassies in Ireland, Malaysia, America, Thailand and the UAE, to prevent coronavirus until they return safely to the homeland. He stressed all these children are fine. “We are coordinating with them to provide all their needs until the implementation of the evacuation plan launched by the government,” he asserted.
Asked about the children staying with foster families, Al-Subaie confirmed daily follow up of their conditions through the Family
Custody Department, which directs all its energies to check the foster families and help them overcome obstacles.
On the food supply, he said the food supply for all shelters is enough for a period of three months and work is underway to increase the supply to cover their needs for six months in coordination with the concerned officials at the ministry.
Meanwhile,Ministry of Foreign Affairs has started coordinating with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Jordan concerning the evacuation of Kuwaiti citizens who wish to return by road in their cars, following the end of the air evacuation plan, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources.
They disclosed that Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Gulf authorities and Ministry of Health, will determine the days of return, which will be in late May, following the end of the air evacuation of citizens.
The sources said the embassies will communicate with the citizens present, coordinate with them, and inform them about all the mechanisms and requirements for their return, adding that their numbers and the number of their vehicles are being collated.
They highlighted that the postponement of the return of citizens by land until the end of air evacuation is aimed to avoid putting pressure on
Ministry of Health and dispersing its efforts, adding that Ministry of Foreign Affairs will adopt an integrated plan which will be implemented following the completion of health preparedness.
The sources concluded that Ministry of Health will provide all services, health measures and medical staff to check the returnees by road, as well as allocate a quarantine center near the borders to isolate any suspected cases of coronavirus.
