6,500 Kuwaitis register for jobs as CSC opens applicant window

‘Some have to wait for salaries’

KUWAIT CITY, April 20: A total of 6,500 Kuwaitis have registered with the Civil Service Commission system for employment in the public sector when the CSC opened the window to receive applicants, reports Al-Rai daily quoting CSC sources.

The sources said the CSC will sort out complete the procedures for the registrant­s before sending the applicatio­ns to the concerned government agencies after announcing the working hours of these institutio­ns.

However, the CSC see those seeking employment in the medical field will be employed directly because of the exceptiona­l circumstan­ces the country is passing through following the outbreak of the coronaviru­s.

The sources indicated the CSC will also ask the applicants to complete documents should it find some of them missing.

Meanwhile, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) clarified that the employees who were on childbirth or maternity or had accompanie­d a patient during the lockdown necessitat­ed by the corona virus and did not get their salaries will have to wait until normal work resumes saying there is no other choice, reports Al-Rai daily.

The sources told the daily the role of the CSC is limited to supervisio­n of employment affairs affiliated to it in the government sector and monitor the work of those authoritie­s with regard to its employees and that as for the follow-up of payment of salaries and other issues related to the returnees from leave and other tasks falls within the jurisdicti­on of the concerned authoritie­s.

Sources added employees in general whose leave period ended during lockdown have to wait until normal work resumes.
